A Message from the CEO


As we head into the New Year, we are watching important global developments for the industry. Never before has accurate forecasting on a global scale been more important. For example, while CSM's forecast for U.S. light-vehicle sales is at a 10-year low of 15.8 million units, we anticipate global sales will increase to over 66 million, which underscores the importance of managing business based on comprehensive data.

But it's about more than production numbers. It's about the impact of currency fluctuations and their influence on importing goods; its about newly liberated consumer markets and their growing influence (2008 is Russia's year); it's about the health of the global OEMs who's up, who's down and who's supplying them.

It's an increasingly complex environment that requires more than data - it requires insight. Which is one of our resolutions to you - to provide fully integrated, decision-making, strategy-setting insights. We're improving our services in this area with our strategic advisory services team and by expanding our onthe- ground analysis in emerging markets. With new CSM offices in Bangkok and Delhi, we're expanding our reach as well as adding to the analytical coverage that goes into our global market forecasts and strategic advisory services.
